Program Overview
The Club is an after school and summer enrichment program for at-risk middle school youth in the Collington Square neighborhood of East Baltimore. This program is free to the youth involved. Working in collaboration with The Baltimore Curriculum Project, The Club provides high quality educational services to the youth involved.
The children are tested to determine their grade level in reading and math; after school they are tutored in both subjects and they also participate in a book club. Activities are performed to aid in character development. A light meal is served daily.
Program Goals
- To encourage youth to stay in school while achieving academic success
- To improve grades and raise grade level by tutoring each student in conjunction with schools and parents
- To build character, strengthening children's resilience
- To expose children to broader ideas and oppurtunities through projects, trips, and activities
