Program Overview

There are a number of reasons for adoptees to search out their birth parents. Sometimes, questions arise when the adoptees become parents themselves. Other individuals may wish to learn about possible hereditary medical problems.

Adoption Search Program provides a thorough and discreet search, which respects the privacy of both the parents and the adoptees.

We are certified as Confidential Intermediaries by the State of Maryland.

Background

ECSM’s original name was the Church Mission of Help.  In 1927, it was a counseling agency, which then became a licensed adoption agency in 1942.  From this start to ending in the early 1980s, roughly 5000 children were placed with adoptive families.  Due in part to the awesome responsibility vested with the agency through this role, ECSM continues to conduct searches for former Church Mission of Help clients.
